Only Love is Real

Only What is Love is Real

After an incredible weekend with my mom at Marianne Williamson’s A Course in Miracles workshop, I have been pondering the meanings we put on things, relationships, and everything else in life.

I had this beautiful clear crystal mala (beaded prayer necklace) that was blessed by the “Hugging Saint” Amma when I visited her ashram in India.  I loved this item for ALL of the meaning I had associated with it.  Not only was it beautiful, but it also carried with it the memory of a woman who dedicated her life to service and love in a profoundly powerful way.

Months after this life-altering trip, I did my yoga teacher training with Dharma Mittra in New York City.  I will be forever grateful to one of Dharma’s senior teachers, Rebecca, and I felt inspired to give her that mala with all of the love, energy, and meaning that had been poured into it.

There’s a part of me that really felt attached to that item (I’ve honestly thought about it since giving it away), and then I get to look at just how much meaning I put on a strand of beads.  On the one hand, how beautiful, and on the other, how odd.

When we assign a person or object as someone or something that has provided or represented love, sometimes we want to attach to it.  We don’t want that love to go away.  But that’s the miracle!  Love is always there to be shared when we are open.

If we are too busy focusing on a person, thing, or past experience, we miss the experiences all around us!  In being present to the love in each moment, we experience it in the unexpected!  To go one step further, as we choose to release meanings we have placed, life, and the people, places and things in it, can show up as new expressions of love in every moment.

I continue to become aware of and release beliefs or past connections that are the blockages of Love’s expression through me.  As I open and purify my heart, miracles are set free.

It is true that:

Only love is real.

    Thank you.
Your words are a wonderful resource.
When I reflect in my day and feelings or look for inspiration, I can stop here and refuel.
Sharing your sense of love truly does help light the way for others.
