Choosing Love is Letting Go

How many times have you deeply loved  only to find that the ultimate love in that relationship is letting go? Perhaps, love is a constant practice of letting go.

We love, open, give freedom, and let go. If love stays and the other remains present in his or her freedom, the relationship continues. If not, this the natural ebb and flow of life.

As cheesy as it sounds, I watched the final episode of The Bachelor tonight, and it was so refreshing to see a man stand so powerfully for love in spite of the withdraw of the woman he loved.

I remember advice I received through my friend Christina from a couple who had been married over 60 years: Don’t ever fall out of love at the same time.

How true is that? In any relationship, one person may fall out of love with the other at any given time. If both do for a short while, the relationship generally still has steam to pursue. It is that beautiful balance that we share in all of our relationships that keep them in motion.

To the constant loving and letting go that we all go through….

I know, it’s hard, it gets easier, and it is what makes the world go round.

With heart,
S
