Follow Your Heart

I walked out my door tonight to find Curtis Reliford and his PEACE truck.  I was stopped in my tracks and moved to share this story with you.

You see, I had driven to Whole Foods about 15 minutes away to get dinner, but when I went to the checkout stand, I realized I had forgotten my wallet.  Ugh!  So, I drove back home, grabbed my wallet, and headed out the door to walk somewhere local.

Rounding the corner onto the main street of my neighborhood, Curtis’s truck caught my attention.  I sat and talked to the man behind this movement for a bit, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn about his crazy passion and generous heart.

This week, I had been doubting my own path some.  After this article published in the Huffinton Post on Monday, I felt a twinge of discomfort in my heart.  Yes, I am passionate about helping people, but sharing some of my vulnerabilities felt raw and exposed.  Was I really helping anyone?  Could little me really make a difference for girls, women, and people?  Would I ever help another not have to go through some of what I have because I shared my truth?  Or would my sharing help another live her dreams, her passion, and her purpose?

Who knows the answer to those questions.  I will just have to find out.  But, today, I thank God for the WAY in my face reminder to Follow My Heart.  Thank you, I got the message.  I hope you do, too.

When talking with my dad today about my worries (side note: the origin of “to worry” is “to strangle” – thank you, Renee Ariya, for that insight), I told him I must be crazy.  He reminded me that people who stand for change are crazy.  Steve Jobs was once crazy.  And Curtis is a little crazy.  Do you dare to be crazy and stand for what you believe in?  To do what you came here to do?

    Stephanie,

Thank you, I just saw this post and was very, very moving. We crossed paths for a reason, I believe, to encourage each other. I just want to thank you again from the bottom of my heart and soul. We need more people like you too. I’m thinking about going to Cardiff Sunday afternoon after the Hillcrest Farmer’s Market. Do you know what the foot traffic is like there on a Sunday afternoon? Also I would like to let you know that I will be at Balboa Park tomorrow all day long by Laurel St on 6th Ave. I feel honored to have met you. Have a great night.

    Gratefully,
    Curtis

I think the foot traffic at Seaside Market shopping center should be good on Sunday. It was a pleasure to meet you as well. Good luck!
